Obituary for Gene Henderson

 

Our Hero Gene Ray Henderson went from Saving Lives to Saving Souls.

June 29, 2016 Heaven became a little more Heavenly. After a long battle with cancer, Gene Ray Henderson returned home. He was born February 14, 1948 in Carthage Missouri to Eugene Kenneth and Virginia Colleen Kennett Henderson.  He was raised in Wichita Kansas and spent his summers with his Grandparents in Ulysses Kansas.  

He fell in love and married Sandra Gray while attending Brigham Young University.  They were married in the Logan Temple May 26, 1971. He graduated from BYU and worked as a Provo City Firefighter for 24 years.  He loved saving lives.  He also bought and restored the Hines Mansion in Provo and turned it into a Bed and Breakfast. He worked in Scouting for 30 years and loved Serving the Lord. He served 4 missions and 4 years at the MTC.  His last calling was teaching the Missionary Prep class.  He considered everyone to be his friend.
 
He loved his family so much.  He is survived by his wife and children Heidi (Don Parker), Shawn (Debby Smoot), Heather (Jared Osmond), Cory (Kimberly Haub) and Brock (Heidi Hansen) and his 16 grandchildren.  

Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, July 5th, at 11:00 am, at the Mt. Mahogany Stake Center, 1548 North 900 West, Pleasant Grove, Utah, where a Viewing will be held prior from 9:30 to 11:00 am.  Interment in Lehi City Cemetery.

He will be missed at our 50th Reunion. I remember his smiles from our last reunion.

Ella Lehl (Frederick)

I first knew Gene at Allison.   He was always a gentleman; there was a sweetness to him, even as a junior high boy.  He enjoyed singing and being in the large groups/choirs.  It was wonderful to see him at our 45th reunion and to meet his wife.  I'm so glad he was able to be with us then.   Ella Lehl Frederick
