In Memory

Kim Wray

(Douglas) Kim Wray, 69, died June 20th, 2018 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri. A visitation will be held on June 25 from 6-8 p.m. at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home in Olathe, Kansas. Funeral services will be held on June 26 at 10 am at Redeemer Fellowship church (8714 Antioch Rd, Overland Park, KS).

Kim was born on October 9, 1948 in Wichita, Kansas to Bill and Florene Wray. After graduating from Friends University with a degree in business, he worked in agriculture, technology, and retail before eventually founding his own trade show display company, DisplayWorks, where he worked for nearly 30 years. He saw his work as a Christian ministry, sharing the Gospel with others through his business, and developing a reputation for integrity and kindness along the way.

But Kim’s biggest priorities in life were always his faith and his family. He was married to the love of his life and best friend, Barbara, for 44 years. He was dedicated to his children and grandchildren, and never missed a hockey or baseball game, band concert, or an opportunity to tell them how proud they made him.

We’ll always remember our Dad/Grandpa for his terrible “Grandpa Jokes”, his indiscriminate love of Kansas sports, and his insatiable curiosity (“I’ll Google that!)”. We are so thankful that God gave him to us and will miss him dearly.

The family would like to thank the incredible physicians, nurses, and staff of St. Luke’s Hospital for their considerable efforts and compassionate care. Their uncommon kindness and empathy were greatly appreciated.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara, sons Trevin (Brittney), Trent (Erin), and Tyler, grandsons Gavin and Blake, granddaughter Jocelyn, and brother Cody (Robin), and numerous cousins.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Freedom Fire Urban Ministries (2111 E 13th St, Kansas City, MO) or the Redeemer Fellowship Building Fund.
