In Memory

Richard L Wormser

Richard L. Wormser, 72, of Lawton, formerly of Wichita, Kansas, passed away on Friday, November 13, 2020. Richard was born in Wichita, Kansas, on March 27, 1948, to Lisle and Evelyn (Russell) Wormser. Richard grew up in the Wichita area graduating from West High in 1966.  He attended college at both Wichita State University and Butler County Junior College.  Richard married Barbara Edwards in 1970 and they added one child to their union, Marcy Adrianna, in November of 1974. Richard worked for Arkla Gas from 1966 to 1984.  On February 24, 1984, Richard married Cynthia Still. Together they owned many successful restaurants from the Super Burger in Chickasha, OK to the Steak and Rib in Breckenridge, CO to The Silverado in El Dorado, KS. For many years they worked side by side at their restaurants but also at home….remodeling and fixing up many houses, which were nothing less than fabulous by the time they were finished. Traveling was a passion for Richard and Cynthia. Richard would remind his family and friends that he took adventures NOT vacations. Richard was a “doer”. He could build, fix, and repair almost anything and often had a theory of how to solve almost any problem. He was known for being kind, generous, and fair…..but mostly a little ornery. He was always willing to lend a hand, especially to his family and children.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents and a baby girl who passed away at birth in 1978.

He is survived by his wife, Cynthia of the home in Lawton; three children, Marcy Davis and husband, Jeremy of Wichita, KS, Don Cope and wife, Staci of Altus, OK, Shannon Lovett and husband, Scott, of Chattanooga, OK; seven grandchildren, MaKenzie Lovett, Sara Lovett, Gracie Lovett, Jacob Cope and wife, Jimmie, Allison Cope, Raegan Cope, and Déborah Paixão. He is also survived by his sister, Sherry Mason of Kansas City, MO, and niece, Rebekah Zamarripa and great nephew, Theo, of Springfield, MO

Richard was an avid car enthusiast, so in lieu of a funeral, his life will be celebrated with a car show in the Spring of 2021.

Richard will be missed by Nunie and I. We were fortunate enough to spend time with him and Cindy at their beautiful home in Hot Springs. He was a dear friend who loved life and lived it to the fullest. He worked hard, played hard and loved deeply. He will be so missed.
