Glorena Beth (Secrest) King, age 74, passed away suddenly on Friday, August 18, 2023, at Paramount Community Living and Rehab in Newton, Kansas. 

Glorena is survived by: her devoted husband of nearly 56 years, Michael; her children, Toni (Greg) Schuessler, Mary (Robert) Dusenbery, Rochelle (David) Free; her grandchildren, Ashley (Lee) Ludlum, Andrew (Erin) Courtney, Arika Courtney, Aaron (Jenni) Courtney, Briana Dusenbery, Hannah Dusenbery, Lucas Dusenbery, Jacob Dusenbery, Jeffery (Melissa) King, Andrea King, Alexandra King, Briley (Stevie) Bammes; along with 18 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by: her parents, Arthur and Lois Secrest; her brother, Larry Secrest; and her grandson, Nicholas Dusenbery, as well as many beloved aunts, uncles, and cousins. 

She was born November 26, 1948 to Arthur E. and Lois L. (Herren) Secrest in Alva, Oklahoma. The family soon moved to Wichita, Kansas , where she grew up, graduated from Wichita West High School and would eventually meet her husband, Michael King. 

On October 7, 1967, Glorena was united in marriage to the love of her life, Michael "Mike" King in Wichita, Kansas. They were blessed with three children: Toni, Mary, and Rochelle. Glorena and Mike made fond memories of traveling while Mike served in the Air Force, making many lifelong friends along the way. They eventually settled in Wichita, Kansas in 1972, where they would raise their family. 

Throughout the years, Glorena helped Mike manage a Pizza Hut, worked in the insurance industry as an administrator and as an agent, and worked with children in a daycare she ran out of her home. Glorena loved to travel, and was passionate in planning exciting vacation for her family; she and Mike took their girls on several adventures along the West Coast, creating lasting memories. The couple also traveled abroad to the Bahamas and England. 

In addition to traveling, some of Glorena's favorite hobbies were: sewing, ceramics, macrame and helping her Dad paint his carved woodworking projects. Glorena loved to host family gatherings; Christmas time was the most meaningful to her. Finding joy in the details, she sought to select the perfect gift for those she loved, and always prepared delicious meals for family & friends to enjoy as they came together for special occasions. 

Her desire to help others was one of her most beautiful qualities, and will be remembered fondly as the impact of her care for others lives on.
