In Memory

Kathy Montgomery (Bland)

Thank you so much for responding Cindy and the very kind words about her.  It was a terrible loss for us when she died.  It ten years since she passed and I just so happen to Google her and found your website.  She passed on January 14, 2002.  She battled lung cancer for a little over a year.  She fought this cancer very courageously and with all she had, but there were other plans for her I guess.  She married my father in 1968 and they had two children myself and my sister Kim.  My father was in the Marines, so we moved around a lot.  We ended up in St. Louis and have been here for almost 30 years.  My parents had been divorced for over 25 years.  My mother's father and father's mother both still live in Wichita.  When my mother passed she had four grandchildren 3 girls and 1 boy.  I added to the number five years ago with one more boy.  My mother loved life and had a ton of friends who thought the world of her.  She was a very sweet and easy going person which is probably why she had such a large group of friends.  She loved her Rams and her Cardinals...especially Kurt Warner and Mark McGuire...we live in a sports town.  She was buried in her Kurt Warner jersey, which is what she would have wanted.

Thank you for the story about the hair, that makes me smile.  She had that long hair for a very long time and everyone said she looked like Cher!  She cut it off in the early 70's into the Farrah Fawcett style haircut.  She had a great head of hair, which I did not inherit, but with the help of my sister (who is a beautician)  I do have her dark hair finally!

I have attached one of her last pictures at X-mas time of her and the kids.  It is kind of small, but it is a great picture.

Many blessings to you and yours.

Kristi McCoy

Kathy J. Montgomery (Bland):  1949 - 2002- Died in St Louis, MO - Her obituary ran 22 Jan 2002 - I remember Kathy being light-hearted--she seemingly did not take anything very seriously back then!
