Mary “Kathy” Root, 68, A retired Customer Service manager from Blue Cross of California, passed away on Friday, November 4, 2016. Kathy is survived by spouse Errol Root, sons Damon E. Root and Ryan D. Root, brothers Dan Leasure and Tom Leasure. Kathy, a native of Lyons, Kansas, returned in 2008 after living and raising her family in California for 35 years. She was a loving wife and devoted mother who, after retirement chose to return to her home of origin, Kansas. She wanted to be with family and old friends in her retirement. Kathy was a graduate of Kansas State University. She became a member of Chapel Hill United Methodist Church in 2011. She will be remembered as someone who had the best smile and someone who made you feel like you’ve been friends forever. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Visitation with the family will be on Thursday, November 10 at 6:00 pm -8:00 pm at Downing and Lahey East Mortuary. Funeral Services will be on Friday, November 11 at 2:00 pm at Chapel Hill United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Lakeview Cemetery.
