The GREATEST friend I have ever had...He lived his life to the fullest and though his dreams were cut short, his many wonderful attributes and zest for life still remains in memories of those who knew him. Rick was dedicated to his family and died in the hands of evil individuals while trying to preserve the committments he made to his devious wife. Her unfaithfulness along with her lover's greed brought the angels of death to my dear brother while he slept in his own bed on Feburary 28,1980. I despise the evil that was done, but I also know that my Jesus died and paid the price for that very act as well as the ones I have done. With that in mind coupled with my love and dedication to Jesus, I want those who murdered Rick to come to full repentance and allow the precious blood of Christ to cleanse them from their own unrighteousness so that Christ did not suffer in vain for their brutal acts. May God have mercy on us all as we strive to find peace and some comfort in our struggles to understand each other and come to know Christ more fully. I will see Rick again as he not only showed me how to live, he also showed me how to die with dignity and he left me his forwarding address. Thanks Rick and goodnight...I will see you in the morning! The attached video is one of my dad Bruce Dopps. He recorded the video the day before his death at the age of 93. I post this because Rick, myself and all my other siblings owe so much to this man his dedication to Christ. Dad read this poem that he had memorized as a child (he had to use the script as his health was failing and he could not remember all the words). The words are so incredible that it would do us all well to consider them each day and every day for the rest of our lives.
